The car Magzine photographers have papped Suzuki’s new Jimny 4×4 and boy it does look like a mini Mercedes G-class from very far away… . . Maruti intends to launch the new generation Jimmy for the replacement for GYPSY.
The current-generation Suzuki GYPSY is so old that first versions saw the fall of the Roman Empire, and had stopped production last year. So it’s about time that the very popular SUV thrusts itself into the 21st Century.
The spy photos show that the basic shape of the Jimny won’t change much from its predecessor. It’s about as angular as a car can get in its overall silhouette – again, not unlike a Mercedes G. Maruti intends to launch new Jimmy with Gypsy badge in India around 2019. As the model was very popular and specially among youth and defense personnel.
Maruti Gypsy 2019As far as spyshots are consider it looks like a combination of Land rover Defender and Mercedes G-class. The front end gives us a couple of clues to the car’s final design; big round headlights show basic halogen bulbs and the two rectangular slats on the grille will undoubtedly be joined by others in a row, like before.
The square wheel arches complement the almost Land Rover Defender-like creases along the side of the bodywork, too. While at the rear, the Jimny still sports an exposed spare wheel and side-hinged door.
Engine options are likely to remain basic. We could see Suzuki’s turbocharged Boosterjet engine or SHVS tech join, but this would go against the Jimny’s pared-back driving experience and would up the price. Four-wheel drive will also be a option along with standard across the board. Along with all modern comfort and safety feature. It should priced around 8-12 lac range giving tough compititon to Creta and Scropio.
We’ll see the new GYPSY in the metal in late 2018 or January 2019.
