Lamborghini is known for two things . One is for cool poster for your bedroom and second, coolest sports cars. And these coolest sports have further two characteristics beside being coolest. That is Fast and Futuristic. Keeping that in mind Lamborghini has introduced the Terzo Millennio as a super sport car concept in collaboration with MIT. Something that would “rewrite the rules on super sports cars” for the third millennium.

Bedroom poster quotient ?
Do I need to say more? I don’t think so. Terzo Millennio Concept is every bit a Lamborghini . So it has to look fast as well as futuristic. It is destined to end on bedrooms for most and in garages of a lucky few.
But only if it can be made.
Terzo Millennio is not a conventional super sport car but conceptualized as sport car for future. The sports car of the future uses electricity instead of gasoline. Electric systems generate high efficiency and offer several interesting characteristics like the possibility to recover kinetic energy and to deliver huge peaks of power.
And according to Lamborghini “To harvest this opportunity, today’s batteries are not enough and a big leap forward is needed. And our aim is to develop an innovative supercapacitor able to close the gap with conventional batteries in terms of energy density, preserving an outstanding power density.”
To achieve this, there is need for revolutionized approach in terms of energy storage and innovative materials to secure the most emotional and ultimate driving experience.
Electricity would be stored in Terzo Millennio body
The Millennio intends to do away with normal batteries, MIT instead looking into the use of supercapacitors for power. The next step is to develop a pack able to give lots of peak power, regenerate, and have limited degradation over the car’s lifetime.
In order to reach above stated goals, Lamborghini aims to reduce weight and to increase the availability of electric energy using structural electric energy storing composites as a rechargeable battery. The target is to improve the nano-material technology, diffusing nano-charges in CFK-based panels able to store electric energy and in the meantime to form the body and structures of the car.
Terzo Millennio would be self healing
Lamborghini and MIT want the Millennio to self-heal. That is, to automatically detect cracks and damages in the carbon structure and repair them via micro channels in the bodywork filled with ‘healing chemistries’
Keeping all this it is hard to see Terzo Millennio on roads in near future. But nobody is going to stop it from getting into bedrooms.
